Matthew Gallant
1987-2012
Gallant, Matthew Russell- 24, Halifax. It is with
heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing
of our beloved son and brother; Matthew on January 25, 2012. Born in
Halifax, he was the son of Tracey Gallant and Steven Smith. Matthew
was a hard worker and was working, at Fisherman’s market for
many years as a Commercial Fisherman out of Sambro. His big heart,
humor and light will live forever in the hearts of those he touched
and the many friends he made. Together we shared a love whose height
and depth cannot be measured .He will be lovingly remembered by his
mother and father, brother Steven Smith Jr.; maternal
grandmother, Deborah Gallant(Ryan); paternal grandmother, Helen Smith
(Gray) and great -grandmother, Minnie Smith; aunts, Nicole
Gilkie (Gallant), Marcia Feltmate(Smith),Patricia Dempsey(Smith) Judy
McGrath(Smith) and many cousins. He was predeaceased by both
grandfathers, Russell Gallant, and Douglas Smith.
Arrangments are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.,
149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will
be held on Monday, January 30 from 6-8 PM. A celebration of
Matthew life with a funeral mass will take place at St.
Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield on Tuesday,
January 31 at 11 a.m. with Father Frank Pellerin officiating.
Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations in memory of Matthew
may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Tracey-my heart goes out to you as I know that no parent is EVER meant to outlive a child, no matter what their age.
